Biophobia

She was the romanticized everything-bad

Seemed to be so lovely but no one understood

How terrifying it was to live

How in the dead of night

And in the middle of the day

She would have to feel her breathing in her lungs

And know they weren’t going to stop

And she would have to live for a while

And how that was so exhausting, terrifying –

Impossible –

But it was happening anyway and there wasn’t

Anything she was willing to do

Because she had something to live for;

She was just waiting for it
