I wanted just enough. Just the spare change of your time. Just the message or note letting me know that I flicked across your mind even once. I tried not to ask for much, I know it wasn’t my place. But your soft eyes and the sweet curve of your lips had me wanting just a little bit more.
A flash of the light reflected in your eyes.
The crinkle in your brow when you’re confused.
Your stifled laughter in a quiet place.
I thought it wouldn’t be too much to want, I thought it wouldn’t be too much to ask.
In our rushed time I saw all of the colors you shown with and my water-color gray didn’t seem to bother you. Opposites but it felt right, didn’t it? Well I thought it had.
But you had no more time to give. You had no spare moments just to let me know I was there. And while there isn’t enough time in your day I still find most of mine being handed off to you.
