Words Like Silence

I hope you don’t find it repealing

The way words affect me so

And whenever you seem to use them

It takes me a while to catch up

It’s not my fault, you see

It’s the way the words hit my surface

But take time to sink in

And then they fill me up just so

My own words rise up to my throat

But never one-by-one, always all at once

So when you come into contact with my silence

It’s because of all of the things I have to say

And so many of the things I feel
