Incurable Disease

Loneliness is my incurable disease

It clings to me like water

Though it seems to drip off without complaint,

Every last drop sticks.

There isn’t enough people in the world

Nor is there enough love

To cure me of this incurable disease

The symptoms come like waves to a shore

Back and forth, never ending

And while I toss and turn at night,

My body aching for the loneliness to go,

I know it is a part of me;

My incurable disease
